What Do L2, L3, R2, and R3 Mean in Symmetrista Bra Sizing?

What Do L2, L3, R2, and R3 Mean in Symmetrista Bra Sizing?

If you are new to Symmetrista, the sizing may look different from a standard bra size chart. Alongside your band and cup size, you will also see options like L2, L3, R2, and R3.

These are Symmetrista’s asymmetry support levels. They help you choose a bra based on two things:

  1. Which breast is smaller
  2. How large is the cup-size difference

This guide explains how the system works.

Why Symmetrista uses support levels

Most bras are made with two identical cups. Symmetrista is different because it is designed specifically for uneven breasts.

That means your bra size alone does not tell the full story. Two women may both wear a 75C, but one may have a smaller left breast, while another may have a smaller right breast. One may have a mild difference, while another may have a more noticeable difference.

The support level helps the bra match your asymmetry more accurately.

What does L mean?

L means your left breast is smaller.

So if you choose L2 or L3, you are choosing support for asymmetry where the left breast needs more balancing support.

What does R mean?

R means your right breast is smaller.

So if you choose R2 or R3, you are choosing support for asymmetry where the right breast needs more balancing support.

What do the numbers 2 and 3 mean?

The number shows the degree of cup-size difference between your breasts.

  • Size 2 supports a 1–3 cm / 0.39″–1.18″ difference.
  • Size 3 supports a 3–5 cm / 1.18″–1.97″ difference.

If you are exactly around a 3-cup difference and unsure which one to choose, use the size calculator or contact us for help.

Symmetrista support levels explained

Here is the simplest way to understand the options:

  • L2 = left breast is smaller, with a 1–3 cm / 0.39″–1.18″ difference
  • L3 = left breast is smaller, with a 3–5 cm / 1.18″–1.97″ difference
  • R2 = right breast is smaller, with a 1–3 cm / 0.39″–1.18″ difference
  • R3 = right breast is smaller, with a 3–5 cm / 1.18″–1.97″ difference

The letter tells you which side is smaller. The number tells you the degree of asymmetry.

Example 1: left breast is smaller

If your regular bra size is 75C and your left breast is about two cm smaller than your right breast, you would choose 75C L2.

That means:

  • 75C is your base bra size
  • L means your left breast is smaller
  • 2 means the difference is around 1 to 3 cm or 0.39″–1.18″

Example 2: right breast is smaller

If your regular bra size is 80B and your right breast is around four cm smaller than your left breast, you would choose 80B R3.

That means:

  • 80B is your base bra size
  • R means your right breast is smaller
  • 3 means the difference is around 3 to 5 cm or 1.18″–1.97″

What if I am not sure if I got the right size?

It is common to feel unsure, especially if your breasts differ not only in size but also in shape, position, or fullness.

If you are unsure after measuring yourself, you can send your measurements to us for double-checking. For fit-related questions, our founder Merlin is happy to help personally with care and discretion.

What if I am between L2 and L3 or R2 and R3?

If you are between support levels, the right choice may depend on your breast shape, tissue distribution, and how much balancing support you prefer.

Use the size calculator first. If the recommendation still feels unclear, contact us with your measurements and any fit concerns.

Does the support level replace my bra size?

No. Your support level does not replace your bra size. It works alongside your bra size.

For example, 75C L2 includes:

  • band and cup size: 75C
  • asymmetry support level: L2

Both parts matter.

Final thoughts

Symmetrista sizing may look different at first because it is designed for a body reality that standard bra sizing often ignores. If your breasts are different sizes, your bra should reflect that.

L2, L3, R2, and R3 are there to make choosing a bra for uneven breasts clearer, more accurate, and more comfortable.
