Our shop assistant (chat) and email forms
This section applies to the chat window on symmetrista.com ("the shop assistant") and to the email forms it shows. It was added on 5 November 2026. Where it is more specific than the rest of this policy, this section applies.
Who is responsible. Symmetric OĆ, Aasa tee 1, Loo 74201, Estonia (info@symmetrista.com) is the controller of the personal data described here.
What the shop assistant is. The shop assistant is an AI system. It answers questions about our products, sizing, delivery and returns, works out a size from what you tell it, and can show you buttons and short forms (add to cart, an email form, an order status form, or a way to contact our team). It cannot place an order, see your payment details or change anything in your account. Its answers can be wrong; check anything important with our team.
What we process when you chat
- What you type in the chat, and the assistant's replies.
- Which buttons and forms the assistant showed you, and how each reply ended.
- The country our shop detects for your visit, to show prices in your currency as well as in euros. Checkout is always in euros.
- Your IP address and browser signals, used by Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is chatting, and by our server to limit how much one visitor can use the chat in a day.
- The time of each message, to the minute.
Before a message is stored or sent to the AI service, our server removes the email addresses, phone numbers, payment card numbers and bank account numbers it recognises. Names, addresses and other details you choose to type cannot be recognised automatically and are kept as you wrote them. Please do not type them: the forms collect what an action needs.
Health information. Talking about your fit can mean telling us about your body, for example breast asymmetry or surgery. Share only what you are comfortable with. We use what you write only to answer you and to see how the assistant is doing, as described here, and never for advertising.
Why, and on what legal basis
- To answer your questions and help you find your size before you buy: to take steps at your request before a purchase (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in helping visitors (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To see how the assistant is doing and improve it: our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)). Once a day a summary of the previous day's chats is written for the shop owner by the same AI service. It contains counts and a description in the AI's own words, and is meant to contain no names or contact details.
- To keep the chat safe from bots and abuse: our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)).
- Information about your health that you choose to share is processed only on the basis of your explicit choice to share it with us (Article 9(2)(a)).
How long we keep it
- Chats are deleted from our server 30 days after the day they took place. Our server's backups hold a copy for up to 7 days longer.
- The conversation is also kept in your own browser for as long as the tab is open (session storage), so the chat survives moving between pages. Closing the tab removes it.
- The daily summary is deleted after 30 days, like the chats.
- An order status lookup (your order number and email) goes to our server only to ask our shop for that order's status. It is not stored and not sent to the AI service.
Who processes it for us
- Anthropic PBC (United States) provides the AI model that writes the replies and the daily summary. It processes your messages as our service provider, under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to use them to train its models.
- Hetzner Online GmbH hosts our server in Helsinki, Finland, where the chats are kept.
- Cloudflare, Inc. provides Turnstile, the check that a person is chatting.
- Replies written in Estonian are checked by a proofreading service we run on Fly.io. Only the assistant's reply is sent there, not your message.
- Shopify provides our shop and answers order status lookups.
- Exchange rates come from the European Central Bank. Nothing about you is sent there.
Transfers to the United States rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it, and otherwise on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
The email forms in the chat
The chat can offer you a form for your email: to hear when your size is back or made, to join the waitlist for the nude bra, to email you your size, to sign up for our newsletter, or to stay in touch with us.
- When you use one, your email address goes from your browser straight to Klaviyo, Inc. (United States), the email service we use. It does not pass through the shop assistant or the AI service.
- "Stay in touch" also sends what you wrote in this chat, with what our server recognised already removed, so that our founder Merlin can answer you personally. Klaviyo emails it to her, and it is kept in Klaviyo with your email address.
- You join our newsletter only if you tick the box for it. It is never ticked in advance. You can unsubscribe with the link in every newsletter.
- A size or waitlist email tells you about that size or product only.
- We keep these until you ask us to delete them or unsubscribe, or until we no longer need them to answer you. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time without affecting what was done before.
Automated decisions. The assistant suggests sizes and products. It makes no decision that has legal or similarly significant effects on you, and you can always ask our team instead.
Your rights. You can ask us for access to your data, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable form, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Write to info@symmetrista.com. Chats are not linked to your name or email, so to find yours, tell us roughly when you chatted and what you wrote. You can also complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, www.aki.ee) or to the data protection authority where you live.
